Awards Committee

Current and Recent Committee Activities

1) Creation of the new David Hume Bridge Award. This award is designed to offer support funding for junior ASTS faculty members in their efforts to obtain NIH K08 or K23 grant funding. Award overview

2) The committee elected to replace the Presidential Travel Award, with the Medical Student Award. The new award will offer four summer internships and provide $3500 per award.

3) The implementation of uniformed funding for the ASTS-Roche Laboratories Scientist Scholarship, ASTS-NKF Folkert Belzer, MD Research Award, ASTS-Novartis Fellowship in Transplantation and the ASTS-Thoracic Fellowship, at $40,000 per year starting in 2008.

4) Funding for faculty awards was increased to $50,000 per award. These awards include the ASTS-Astellas Faculty Development Award, ASTS-Wyeth Mid-Level Faculty Award, and the ASTS-Wyeth Collaborative Scientist Award.

5) Implementation of online award application and review.
