The ASTS and its members provide recommendations and comments to other governmental agencies such as the Advisory Committee on Organ Transplantation (ACOT), to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Institute of Medicine (IOM), the Residency Review Committee for Surgery (RRC), the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and the Transplant Surgery Advisory Council (TAC).
