Fellowship Training Committee

Mission Statement

By serving as the approval authority for new and existing transplant training programs, the Fellowship Training Committee ensures that trainees in ASTS-accredited fellowship programs are provided adequate opportunities to master the art and science of the clinical, surgical and immunological management of the solid organ transplant recipient. By setting programmatic requirements, the Committee ensures that trainees participate in adequate numbers of transplant operations and receive adequate exposure to patient care and other educational endeavors to optimize their changes to reach a level of competence appropriate for an independent caregiver of transplant services.

The Fellowship Training Committee acts as the verifying entity for the submission of operative volume by fellows in approved training programs to qualify for ASTS certification. The operative logs serve as documentation that the required competencies have been completed.
