Everyone in a position to control the content of an educational activity must disclose all financial relationships with ACCME-defined ineligible companies. This information must be disclosed to participants prior to the beginning of the activity. All conflicts of interest must be mitigated prior to the educational activity.
What You Should Disclose
The ACCME requires that you disclose ALL financial relationships with ACCME-defined ineligible company(ies) in any amount occurring within the past 24 months. The ACCME defines ineligible companies to be "those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.
Examples of ineligible companies include:
- Pharmaceutical companies and distributors
- Device manufacturers and distributors
- Health-related wearables
- Growers, distributors, or sellers of medical foods and dietary supplements
- Bio-medical startups that have entered a governmental regulatory process
For additional examples of ineligible companies visit accme.org/standards.
You do not need to disclose relationships with companies whose mission and function are providing clinical service directly to patients, the education of healthcare professionals, or serving as a fiduciary to patients, the public or population health. For example, hospitals or nursing homes, publishing companies, EHR companies, government, or military agencies.
Failure to provide complete disclosure information will result in the disqualification of your involvement in this activity.
