Approved by the ASTS Executive Committee
The American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) emphasizes that transplant recipients rely on uninterrupted access to immunosuppression and consistent medical care to protect their health and ensure survival. Honoring the gift of life — whether from a deceased or living donor - is paramount for all transplant patients.
ASTS encourages all law enforcement agencies to help maintain this continuity of care and ensure every patient has the opportunity to safeguard their health. Proper care, including accurate doses and dosing schedules of immunosuppressive medications, is needed to make the most of their second chance at life following their transplant.
