The Strength of My Scars® creates illustrated patient education books that help children, adults, and families understand complex medical conditions and treatments.

Written by abdominal transplant surgeon Maria Baimas-George, MD, MPH, and developed in partnership with her sister, Lianna Baimas-George, MBA, MEd, each book combines medical accuracy with clear, easy-to-understand language, engaging illustrations, and storytelling that transforms fear into understanding.

The Strength of My Scars was born from Dr. Baimas-George's experience caring for patients and recognizing the need for educational resources that help families understand both the medical journey and the emotions that come with it. Today, these books are used by transplant centers across the United States to support patient education before and after transplant.
